Although many readers think I’m a Windows-only zealot, one of my other favorite OSes is OpenBSD. I run a few flavors of Linux as well, but I use OpenBSD as my honeynet (a network of honeypots) firewall and to explore the criminal side of the Net. There is no better secure, popular OS than OpenBSD.

“notMac” Challenge: $10000+ (US) For A .Mac Alternative
I’m starting the notMac Challenge to encourage the development of an easy-to-use replacement for Apple’s dotMac service and am looking to get the word out.
Since Apple started charging for dotMac, I’ve spent $495 on membership. That seems kind of steep since all the dotMac features I use most could be accessed using my own server. Much of the required code already exists but requires a very high degree of technical proficiency to execute.
